Watching the Oscars makes me think about 'making it'. About 'recognition'. It's a whole room who have devoted themselves to making it. To being recognised. The funny thing about recognition is, that's all it is. Being recognised. "That's Brad Pitt", or "that's Meryl Streep." You could say they're recognised *for* their acting, but recognition isn't acting - it's recognition. It's an almost completely empty thing. Sometimes B-celebrities are mocked for being famous, for being famous. But that's ALL fame. All recognition. It's being able to be identified, by lots of people. And nothing else.
