Aboriginal and other ‘primitive’ peoples often dislike and distrust film and video recordings. We think they’re just simple. What if we’re the simple ones? What if film and video images do actually ‘capture’ in some ways what they portray? Not represent, actually capture. How else do we explain that those images are so ‘life-like’, that celluloid and electronics can create something so obviously like the original, that make us feel almost everything the ‘real life’ situation does?
