More than 100 years ago humans already realised what was much better about electric cars. I’ve highlighted some of the main reasons then, which are the same now. So what happened, why didn’t this recognition in 1912 lead to us all driving electric cars? Rockefeller happened. Cheap American oil flooded the world. Standard Oil was in full swing by 1912, Rockefeller’s company. Everybody knew combustion cars were crap then, but the oil was so cheap they went with combustion clunkers instead. As is the case again today, so often some rich American, allowed to become wealthy beyond all sense by a dysfunctional society, perverts the sanity of human decision making.
