Somebody described my posts as ‘boring’ the other day. They certainly don’t attract much interest, maybe they are. Heh, who cares, I’m not selling tickets to an event here. What interests FB is oversharing of the details of peoples’ personal lives. Still strikes me as bizarre that you give people a global platform, and the thing they choose to share on it is ‘here’s what I did today’. We’re fixated on our social selves, on how we appear to others. You could scroll this platform all day every day, and not come a millimetre closer to understanding most of the people on it. I think ‘selfies’ are very badly named. A selfie is a picture of you as others see you. Only language will show people the you *you* experience, by expressing what you think and feel. Very few want to share that, it terrifies them for some reason.
