I don’t post so much about renewable energy and electric cars because I’m some ‘fanboy’ of them. I hate the whole fan/kidult culture we live in, where you join a team as a fan and then fight other teams for status. I post about these things because they’re the lynchpin of our entire culture and its problems. Fossil fuels contain highly concentrated energy that took several million years to form, and we burned it in a few hundred years. That distorted everything in our lives, and has heated the climate to extinction-level threat. The people who YouTube objections? The time for appeasing morons is over. Go and read a book. The travel culture I often criticise is just one more symptom of it, where we burn astronomical amounts of energy on our ‘bucket list’ destruction of other people’s homes and cultures, with our mass tourism. Fossil energy allowed us to think we’re gods, unattached to place in any way. Which means we destroy all places, including our own. Renewables, and electrifying everything (including transport) restores sanity and equilibrium to human life and culture. They’re not just some new toys. It restores energy to every location on Earth, rather than us all slaves to the holders of the few large oil, gas and coal reserves, and their wars over these reserves. Putting solar panels on your roof and driving an electric car will change the world faster than anything else. Everything about the world, it’s all connected. It gives you power back (literally), and saves you shit-tonnes of money. Or you can keep emptying your wallet at a servo, and paying thousands a year for gas-powered electricity.
