Another chapter of ‘how crap combustion engines really are.’ Using a new petrol mower for one hour produces more air pollution than driving a car 70km. Garden tools like mowers produce 5% of the air pollution in the US alone. And it’s dangerous air pollution, very bad for your heart, lungs and brain. The US EPA also estimates 65 million litres of petrol is spilled every year while refuelling mowers and other garden equipment, much of which ends up in the soil and waterways.
