The car lobby is also the parking lobby. Nothing exercises Bathurst more for example than parking spaces. What causes increased traffic and increased need for parking, is new roads and new parking spaces. It induces demand, just as building or raising dams doesn’t increase water supply, it increases demand for water. The only thing that fixes both traffic and parking is fewer roads, and less parking. Only that can force a shift to different solutions.
