Is the obsession with coffee a healthy thing? When does liking something tip over into an addiction? Keeping in mind that all addictions don't start as addictions, they kind of creep up on people. When people say "I can't get my day going without coffee", are we getting to that tipping point? From firsthand experience, I love coffee and used to drink it every day. For medical reasons I now can't, but remember the withdrawal I had to go through to make that transition. Now from the other side of that withdrawal, a lot of the behaviour of coffee drinkers looks like addiction. It's like the 'wine o'clock' phenomenon, another one that is dressed up as a social thing, but is definitely addiction at work, in many people.
