Having recently almost become a victim of a scam myself, I think the best advice remains if an organisation contacts you via email or via phone or text or in any other way to say there is a problem, ignore that communication. Hang up immediately if it’s the phone. Scammers rely upon people panicking to keep them on the line. Organisations won’t contact you for problems in that way. And then contact the organisation yourself, using its official contact details that you look up separately, and ask if there are any problems. That way you’re in control of the flow of information.
