3 out of 4 Australian homes now have air conditioning. With rising electricity prices (some of which is due to the extra demand from air conditioners), these cost a bomb to run and make the climate warmer in the process - bit of a vicious circle. There's a new technology called indirect evaporative cooling, and it costs about 10% of what it costs to run a traditional air conditioner, for cooling. Also unlike older evaporative coolers, this new technology produces completely dry air, and chills the air as much if not more than a refrigerated air conditioner. They're already installed on many commercial buildings but they're being slow in bringing out residential models. So everybody should write to them and ask, to speed it up! You can find out about the technology here, and there's a contact link to write to them. It's Seeley, major air con supplier. http://www.climatewizard.com
