Beautiful Lithgow, as an example. There are over 10,000 households in Lithgow. Pretty much all of them own at least one vehicle, many own 2 or more. Average fuel price for a year is about $5000 per vehicle. That means Lithgow alone is spending 50-100 million dollars per YEAR, just on petrol and diesel. If the town were to electrify, including its vehicles, that money would stay in town. Right now it ends up in Texas and the Middle East. Imagine what Lithgow could do with an extra 50-100 million dollars per year. EVERY SINGLE YEAR, not just a one-off windfall. You want to see what sucks the lifeblood out of communities? Look in your driveway.
