Henry Ford. Introduced a 2-day weekend for his staff, figuring with more free time they'd spend more money, on his cars. That's exactly what happened. Every worker is also a customer at multiple businesses, including their own, this is what modern 'economic' thinking completely forgot. It's stuck in tunnel vision, at the individual firm level. Pay workers more, and give them more time off (a 4-day week - watch this space, it'll come), and the 'economy' will boom.
