Has anybody actually seen ‘the economy’? I think it’s the most powerful political myth of our times. By believing there’s this thing called an economy that has to be driven like a truck, you can bypass the due process of actually consulting people. It’s no coincidence I think that the people who believe most firmly in the economy are fairly anti-social, highly conservative folk who are uncomfortable dealing with others.
