Have posted this one before, but i think it’s got more still to give. Religion is a contentious thing for people, mostly because those for and against it have bizarrely come to think it’s a debate about whether there is a supernatural God up in the sky. So you either have ‘faith’ there’s a God ‘up there’, or you don’t. However religion may not be anything about that at all. This gospel tune points the way to a completely different way of understanding it. Religion is about presence, about, as the tune says, not worrying, ruminating, speculating on what hasn’t happened yet, living in the moment etc. Some religions often have this already as their main focus, but you can hear in music like this that it’s a vein of Christianity too. “He has the whole thing in his hands” scares people, they think it means take no responsibility for anything, God will take care of it. It doesn’t mean that at all, it means take care for the things in your everyday present moments, and stop trying to impose a right or wrong way on them, an overall direction. Deal with things only for what they are, as they present themselves to you, stop trying to judge them. Have humility, let reality be what it is and deal with that specifically.
