I think the cause of and biggest obstacle to addressing climate change, is the idea of 'the environment'. I'm still seeing even those who know climate change may kill most of us try to 'save the environment'. Or they say 'get behind the science', as if scientists actually have a clue how to fix it. The climate changing is a SYMPTOM of something else, it's not the problem itself. We may need to do urgent climate-related things to stay alive, but to fix this permanently we need to understand the problem itself.
