Driving is changing fundamentally. No longer will it be isolated people behind the wheel, with their lapses of attention, deliberate ignoring of road conditions and rules, falling asleep etc. No other mass transport system has ever tolerated so much individual discretion, because it's not only dangerous, it destroys traffic flow. People are focused only on the tiny space around their own vehicle.
