BYD is planning to release a plug-in hybrid SUV in Australia as early as this year. It will be about the size and price of a RAV4, but have an electric-only range of up to 150km. So people can drive it as a pure-EV for most of their driving, and then as a hybrid for long trips (where they can just use petrol if there are no chargers). Brilliant engineering at a crazy low price.
