Somebody asked me the other day if I 'had a life'. What prompted their question was that I rarely post anything about my personal life to social media. To me it was staggering, how deep oversharing is in people, that they don't see the wackiness of constantly posting about themselves on a global platform, that mines their personal lives to make money. The fact my personal life wasn't on social media meant I didn't have a personal life 🤔 It's still a head scratch for me, that the default seems to be to assume people want to know about your life. I can guarantee, they mostly really don't. They may say they do - they're lying. It's more a battle of curated images, not actual concern. I don't think most of what I post is of much interest to people either, but I'd rather have a go at discussing ideas than sharing endless stories about my own life, yuck. The people who want to know about that, already know.
