Fewer than 5% of Australians tow anything - a trailer or caravan/camper trailer or boat. And yet so much of the EV narrative is around range, and range is mostly an issue for people who tow. Which relatively speaking is hardly anybody, a tiny niche market. Maybe 95% of the sneering smart-arses on social media about EVs though come from this tiny towing community. Range is a funny issue. The reason there aren't enough long-distance fast-chargers (yet) for this tiny part of the community is that the previous government actively blocked installing them for 10 years. Not a limitation of EVs, the limitations of a dickhead government. Also when petrol and diesel cars were first introduced, for years there were no service stations at all, and nobody said 'see? Horses are superior'. Much higher capacity batteries too are imminent. (As I posted yesterday, you can also carry a petrol or diesel generator with you and only a very small amount of fuel. You only need 5-10L of fuel to fully charge an EV, compared to 50-150L to fill a petrol or diesel tow vehicle.) Good balanced piece by an active tower, on towing and range. As he says: "So the range is one EV towing problem. Are there any others? Well, no. Range aside, I can’t think of any way in which an EV is not superior, and significantly so compared to an ICE vehicle for towing."
