Happy Sunday! God’s day. A stained glass window seen from outside a church has almost no colour at all. Go inside though, where the darkness and light can interact, and you get this. What if light doesn’t shine ‘on’ things, but instead is ‘in’ things? And what if the ‘material world’, which seems finite, and the light and information about that world, which seem eternal, are one and the same world? And what if God is the interplay of that finite and eternal, as in this stained glass window? What if Churches have been telling us for centuries that God is already there, in that play of light and shadow? And not somewhere up in the sky?
