The huge increase in early voting for elections, yeh nah. Election Day is a collective tradition or ritual, but pre-poll voting is making it an individualised thing. Vote when it’s most convenient it to you, customer service ideas coming to elections. Reminds me of the shift in school photos now, where they don’t do actual group photos, but just photos of each kid individually. It also ruins the drama of Election Day, as increasingly outcomes of elections aren’t known for weeks, as pre-poll and postal votes get counted. Individual flexibility at the cost of collective tradition.
