I think humans are some of the least sentient beings. Our feelings are almost comically simplistic compared to even what a tree feels and can sense. We're so certain that we're the most complex beings in the world because; well, because we say so. And then we watch documentaries about the incredibly sophisticated ways animals, plants and even rocks can sense and feel the most exquisitely small variations in things, and don't stop to wonder if we have it all upside down. It's a tough argument to win, there aren't many deeper prejudices than the one that says humans are the pinnacle of existence. And this isn't an animal rights argument either, because most people obsessed with that would happily decimate most micro-organisms on the planet to get a good vego meal, whereas micro-organisms are likely the most sentient of all things.
