Quite a few years ago service stations began to look like mini-supermarkets. They were ‘diversifying’ their revenue (they make bugger all from the petrol and diesel, that all goes offshore). What the service station industry has now realised is that EV charging will be a boon for them. People may need to stop for longer to charge, making them much more receptive to what the inside shop has to offer. And they don’t have to buy expensive toxic muck from offshore and have it tankered in to fill hugely expensive underground tanks. And they need no hugely expensive pumps.
