This movie was a Soderbergh remake of a Russian classic, and didn't make many waves at the time (although is now retrospectively praised as a work of cinematic art). The theme is interesting - what would happen if the people we know and love were replaced with copies that are based only on what we know and feel about them? Follows the idea that we can never really know another person, our feelings about them and what we think of them are projections of ourselves, it's not actually them.
