For many years another anti-EV message was that they have no resale value. How the worm has turned. Some people are selling their used EVs now for more than they paid for them, new. Meanwhile second hand petrol and diesel vehicles have plummeted in value. I’ve posted before about petrol and diesel vehicles becoming ‘stranded assets’ i.e. goods nobody wants. Even hybrids will quickly come into that category, except for people who need those for very specific reasons i.e. a lot of remote driving, heavy vehicles, towing etc. The new vehicle emissions standards will also make combustion vehicles much more expensive every year now, as more than a century of free pollution comes to an end, the gigantic subsidy that made combustion vehicles affordable. Buy them now at your own financial risk.
