Plug-in hybrids (PHEVS - hybrids with bigger batteries that can do electric-only driving for most weekly drives) are hugely popular now, because of 'range anxiety'. They're great cars. But this could be a problem, because range anxiety is a mental illness, not an actual physical issue for most drivers. If carmakers tool up their factories for PHEVs, they'll be reluctant to change them again to go to full-EVs. This is the damage social media is doing to our societies. Weaponised dumb ideas on social media lead to actual physical changes to our social infrastructrure.
