Went to a servo this afternoon. I needed a carton of milk. When I got there, the young guy behind the counter was giving a long sermon to some poor young woman about how the petrol prices mean we should be refining more of our own fuel, and that electric cars aren’t the answer because we still need to burn coal to power those. I was standing inside the streaming channel of social media bullshit, live. There was an hilarious silence from him as I paid for the milk, because I parked the Tesla right outside the window underneath his nose. This is how all major change happens. Lots of rationalisations for doing nothing will come and go. Eventually the brutal economics and engineering of the situation wins, always. And then the same people pretend they were on that team the whole time.
