Every time I walk through the car park of doctor surgeries past the expensive European cars, I'm reminded that they're public servants and are not held to account like any other public servant. The scale of the rorting and waste is staggering. Nurses and other HCWs in the meantime earn a pittance. And the over-servicing is ridiculous. For example I'd love a shingles vaccination, which I'll have to pay for. But to even be able to access it I need to have 3 GP appointments. Bloody ridiculous, a nurse or pharmacist could give it to me. And note how many GPs work short hours now, part-time. They earn so much they barely notice the missed earnings. According to their own professional website, the average GP earns $330,000 per year. I think in reality for most it's $150,000-$260,000 per year. Other specialists can earn $500,000-$1 million a year. All taxpayer dosh. Dentists are as bad if not worse, but at least don't get to rort Medicare. (They just rort your private health insurance.)
