My GP was agreeable to me having a stock of these on hand, should I catch Covid. Metformin seems to significantly reduce viral load (i.e. how much Covid reproduces inside you) if taken as soon as possible after infection. It therefore also significantly reduces risk of Long Covid. I can't stress enough that the unseen damage of any infection comes well after you think you're better. The infectious agent can easily take up residence inside you, you need to do everything possible to minimise that risk. Also it shouldn't even need to be said that the real secret to a long life is to avoid infection, of any kind.
