More old photographic techniques, this an example of a glass-plate photo, where before film was invented images were often captured using an emulsion on glass plates. There’s a quality to these old images that can be breathtaking. This is a shot from NSW Police files of William Munro, taken in 1924, a criminal of the time. Mug shots were artistic back then. Every male criminal I’ve seen in the extensive collection is wearing a suit, this was the days before casual clothes.
