Edmund Burke saw institutions as the heart of public life, and that rampant individualism was the source of public breakdown. Modern conservatives have been destroying institutions as fast as they can manage, which puts them completely at odds with him, ironic given that he's their hero. The passion in protests around the world at the moment is a sure indication that institutions have broken down. No amount of protesting will restore them. That's our real task, not complaint but re-building. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/10046562/Edmund-Burke-the-great-conservative-who-foresaw-the-discontents-of-our-era.html
