I think a very good and not often asked question is why 'performance cars' are even allowed on public roads. It's clear they're designed to use public roads as race tracks. Also sometimes called 'driver's cars', a very revealing term, given that everybody on the road is a driver. But not owners of performance cars, who see themselves as superior drivers. Driving fast is just one driving skill, and not even a particularly complex one. They also use phrases like 'driving to the conditions', by which they mean as fast as they like. The 'conditions' of any road are mostly the other people on it, not the maximum speed you can get around its corners. It reveals the deeply anti-social nature of much car enthusiast culture, for whom other drivers are just in the way. They're freeloading off a public resource. Also why traffic 'jams' so often, because the culture of driving is so self-centred.
