I'm sure that there are profound things about our society that are unspoken. My strong guess is that the idea of touch would reveal a lot of those profound things. There's a real anxiety I sense around the idea of touching another person, except in extremely narrow and defined ways. Touch has almost disappeared from medicine (a tragedy), education, and ordinary social interaction, where it gets mired in debates on appropriate and inappropriate touching. Smacking is seen as abuse (instead of just a different type of touch). But at the same time the demand for massage, 'cuddle buddies' etc. is growing hugely. Skin-hunger is actually a technical term psychologists use. https://www.w24.co.za/SelfCare/Wellness/Body/you-think-you-need-sex-but-could-you-just-be-suffering-from-skin-hunger-20181017
