The Trump family are masters of ‘pump and dump’ politics. They make announcements, knowing they’ll cause big shifts in the stock market (the pump) and then secretly in the background they and their crony mates buy and sell shares (the dump) with insider trading knowledge of the announcement to come. Trumpism isn’t fascism or authoritarianism. It’s old-fashioned corporate cronyism and corruption. He’s a conman, a grifter. A snake oil salesman. His pathetic ‘Art of the Deal’. The US isn’t becoming a fascist State, it’s becoming what it already was. A plutocracy. This is the American Dream in action, not fascist overthrow. It’s the culture, in its purest form.
