As a culture it doesn’t even register how perverse it is that we need to use ‘gear’ to access our own landscapes. Landscapes people walked barefoot through for tens of thousands of years, that they *lived*inside. That now apparently need tens or even hundreds of thousands of bucks of expensive gear just to access. The gear is the symptom of our separation from our own land. We’re tourists in our own landscapes. Our travel culture is at home, as well as abroad. We don’t live anywhere, we’re not grounded. We’re always just passing through, seeing the ‘sights’. Land to us is real estate. An ‘asset’. Or a tourist theme park , to be ‘experienced’. Our political constitutions only have people in them. No plants, no animals, no geology or geography, no water. No air.
