This is one reason I'm looking forward to more automation in cars, what's sometimes called self-driving cars. (A bad name for them, because the idea in most cases is to help the driver, not to replace them.) I once had a serious car accident because I fell asleep behind the wheel. Like everybody else, I never thought that would be me. If semi-automated cars were around back then, the accident wouldn't have happened. It could also have hurt or killed somebody else, it's just luck that it didn't.
