It's not actually clear that Socrates said this, but it does the rounds occasionally and is interesting. I'd add "The strongest minds discuss how ideas shape events and people". It's difficult to discuss this sort of thing without it sounding elitist, but in fact we need some elitism back I think, toxic ideas are crushing our societies and aren't being challenged. Universities have given up, tamed into thinking their job is to market themselves to students. "Just enjoying life" isn't an antidote, that's an idea too, and tripe really, only people in a privileged society would have that as a philosophy of life.
