The memories that are the most special for me in life have often been of events that are everyday, ordinary things. For example, coming home from school every day and snacking on SAOs and Vegemite. I can still feel that after school feeling today. It's a more powerful feeling than any of the events that should be more exciting, like overseas holidays or falling in love, which were stronger feelings at the time, but haven't carried across as much into memory - I don't feel them now in the strong way I feel eating SAOs after school. Does anybody else find that it's the things that happened every day, in standard routine ways, that are some of your most precious and strongest, most emotional memories, when you look back?
