This is the belief destroying our societies, that government and individuals are separate things. Just as countries didn't exist before there were international agreements, individuals didn't exist before we had government. Try to live a rich life as an individual in a country without a strong government, and you'll be lucky to survive a year. This belief is destroying our societies because it's supposed to - as Margaret Thatcher famously said, one of the architects of this lunatic idea, "there is no such thing as society". They wanted to break it. The more we implement this belief, the more we destroy society, and the more authoritarian government becomes, to try to deal with the broken mess.
