I saw a local politician complain about windmills being 'as tall as Sydney Tower!' as a reason to reject them. The reason they make them so tall now is because of morons like that politician. A few tall ones means fewer windmills in total. It also allows windmills to access wind undisturbed by wind shear nearer the ground, from trees and other objects. Few know that some of the earliest large structures in European Australia were windmills. All over Sydney, to provide flour for the settlers. There was no social media then, so morons weren't running the country.
