The English have a long history of cross-dressing. Of pantomime, of androgyny. Done with real humour and flair. It was the collision of this playing with gender roles with social media that created transgender culture, where people suddenly mistook the fantasy for the reality. Where roles were confused with identities. That’s what social media does. It made a reality TV star into the leader of the free world.
