Why is it that during an international emergency, we suddenly decide the important thing is to escalate every other cause and grievance we have, and focus on those instead? I think I know why. The pandemic needs practical thought and action right now. We hate that. We love symbolic gestures, they don't require much thought or action, just posturing.
