In the Gods Must Be Crazy, we chuckle because a remote tribe attributes magical properties to a Coke bottle. But we do *exactly* the same thing with money. Money can be printed in any amount and given to people, and it horrifies people, because what about all the debt?! There is none, the government prints the money itself. We bizarrely think money itself has value. Like petrol you put in the car. It's mostly plastic and a few cents worth of metal. It allows people to exchange things and interact. In a pandemic, print squillions of it, while people can't interact. Problem solved.
