This cracked me up (thanks Alex). This is our pause to think time, in lockdown. Why does Covid-19 destroy the economy? Because we're too mobile in how we live. I say what we call the economy is actually our culture of mobility. It's incompatible with infectious disease. A culture constantly on the move breaks ecological connections between microbes and their environment. It has no 'environment' of its own. A pandemic is an ecological problem, not a medical one. There are many ways to run an economy without it having to mean extreme mobility of people, we're discovering that right now. StayAtHome? We need to rediscover what our 'home' is, when we stop bloody moving about everywhere.
