Isn't 'broad musical taste' an oxymoron? To 'have taste' is to to be able to pick crap from quality. There will always be a minority of art (or anything actually) that is truly great. I remember one of the great painters saying they were really only interested in Cezanne. I've never had a huge music collection, or book collection. Most of it doesn't interest me. I used to feel bad about that. (No, this picture isn't me.) I think people collect (or stream) music like they used to collect coins, or stamps.
