The average Australian now pays around $5000 per year, per car, on fuel. If they buy an EV, their fuel costs will be about 10-20% of that. That’s a saving of about $20,000 over a 5-year span, a rough time a person keeps a car. For those who think EVs are expensive (mostly caused by government policy, which is changing), remember to subtract $20,000 from the price when comparing. Then subtract annual maintenance costs too, which for an EV are nearly zero.
