Snapshots from the kidult culture we live in. This is Bathurst’s new animal rehoming centre, its new ‘pound’. Fabulous facility. But now closed to animal drop-offs, because it’s completely overwhelmed by abandoned animals. People would not believe the avalanche of abandoned animals now coming forward. That’s another symptom of a culture where not enough grown-ups are doing grown-up, sensible things. Kidults, not adults. ‘Living their best lives’. The pet was bought on a kidult whim, then got in the way of a lifestyle, so it has to go. You were put on this Earth to live a life, not a lifestyle. That will mean warts and all, not perpetual fun.
