I don't have much time for Tony Abbott, but I also don't think what's most important is whether he's there or not. Abbott represents an extremist sect in the Liberal Party, the very opposite of conservative - a sect that wants to dismantle all public institutions, and anything 'public' more generally. Except flags and prayers. Copied from the same extremist loons in the US and the UK. These are the real fundamentalists we should worry about.
