Electric vehicles preceded combustion vehicles. Combustion vehicles were considered a joke: loud, inefficient, spewing pollution, gutless. That’s because they were a joke, and still are. Rubbish technology. Only cheap American oil made them widespread. History is now correcting that idiot decision. There’s not a single way a combustion vehicle can match an EV, EVs destroy them on every metric you want to use. Power and torque, silence, pollution, mechanical simplicity etc. Some say range, but range is a characteristic of the fuelling network, not of the vehicle. The charging network is developing quickly, and for nearly all of your trips you don’t need it anyway. You charge at home. I’ve used a fast DC-charger twice, just to try it out. Didn’t need it either time.
