Globally, young women and young men are diverging widely in their views, with young women becoming more progressive and young men becoming ultra-conservative, even more than older men. This is historically very unusual. In Korea it’s partly led to a collapse in marriages and births. The most likely cause? Social media, where women and men inhabit very different universes. People use social media to transact much of their social lives. The shift in young men is particularly dangerous, towards increasingly rigid and sometimes violent viewpoints.
